Social events, entertainment and activities are organised on
a daily and weekly basis to ensure that there is always something
interesting and stimulating for you. All staff are able to support
and encourage you with any hobby or interest which you wish to
pursue. Activities range from craftwork, games, reminiscence sessions
and shopping trips.
- A selection of reading material is available throughout the
building.
- There is also a selection of films, concerts available for
residents to watch if required.
- Live musical entertainment is also provided for you on a weekly
basis.
- Birthdays are celebrated and you will receive a birthday cake.
Private celebrations can be provided in your own room.
Hairdressing
A hairdresser is employed by the home, and you could receive a
weekly hairdressing appointment if required.
Mail
Incoming letters and parcels are delivered daily. Residents who
are unable to post their own mail should discuss alternative arrangements
with Matron.
Telephones
Telephones are situated throughout the home for residents’
use. If you require a telephone in your own room arrangements
can be made for a separate line to be installed at your own cost.
Visitors
We welcome visitors at any time of the day. For reasons of security,
it is helpful to know if any visitors are expected after 8pm.
Pets
Regrettably for reasons of hygiene, we are unable to accommodate
pets except on a visiting basis.
Alcohol
Residents may partake of alcohol in their bedrooms or communal
areas unless medically advised to the contrary. Alcoholic beverages
are supplied by staff and provided upon request.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in bedrooms, main lounges or public areas.
The provision of a small smoking room has been made available
for residents only. In the interest of safety, staff will ensure
that all smoking materials are safely stored.
Fire Procedure
In the unlikely event of a fire, specific instructions are located
in strategic positions throughout the building. All staff are
trained to assist you to make a quick evacuation through the emergency
exits, should the need arise. In the event of a full evacuation,
procedures are in place to transfer all residents to St. John’s
church in Onthank.
Passenger lifts (suitable for wheelchairs) serve
both ground and first floors.
Personal Items
You may wish to bring personal effects from home, such as pictures,
ornaments, etc. Residents are responsible for insuring personal
belongings.
Valuables
A safe is available for any valuables, documents or important
items you feel it is essential to retain. Alternatively, you may
wish to make other arrangements with relatives or legal advisers.
Personal property is itemised on admission.
Laundry
Personal items of clothing are laundered and returned to your
room from our own in-house laundry. It is important that all clothing
is marked clearly with your name prior to admission. Clothing
should be able to be machine-washed and tumble dried. |
